The Principal Difference in Effective Schools

What difference does an effective principal make? In fact, a great deal, as Wallace Foundation President Will Miller explains in this talk at the Cahn Fellowship Annual Leadership Conference in New York City. Miller's talk begins 3:30 minutes.

The slides can be downloaded here.

Miller reviews evidence from a research synthesis commissioned by Wallace on what’s been learned from two decades of research. Among findings: Effective principals are linked to improved student achievement, better student attendance, less exclusionary discipline, lower teacher turnover and higher teacher satisfaction.
