Take Action: AFSA Members Can Help Miners Keep Pension

Murray Energy Corp., the largest private coal mining company in the United States, filed for bankruptcy.

Murray Energy was one of the last large employers maintaining the solvency of the Mine Workers' (UMWA) pension plans.

Without congressional intervention, the hard-earned pensions of thousands of miners and their families will collapse. As AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka (UMWA) said, “Congress must step up and stop this injustice today, starting with passage of the Miners Pension Protection Act of 2019.”
